Major Accomplishements
Networking
- 2007 – Assisted in organization of Community Conversation meetings of nonprofit services in the Quad-City Area and the Verde Valley.
- 2006-07 – Participated in Verde Valley Networking meetings for all human service agencies.
- 2004-05 – Provided training to library staff and other organizations for use of the online Verde Valley Community Resource Directory.
- 2001-02 – Hosted monthly networking “Community Connections” meetings for Verde Valley human services and schools.
Community Resource Directory
- 2007 – Seeking funding to publish Verde Valley Senior Resource Directory.
- 2005 – Assisted in development of the United Way Information Network (UWIN) online community resource database.
- 2004-05 – Assisted in the development of the Arizona 211 community resource information database website. Partners: State of Arizona, Community Information and Referral Service, and other agencies.
- 2004 – Compiled and published the Verde Valley Youth Service Directory. Partner: City of Sedona.
- 2003-04 – Obtained grants, designed and compiled an online Verde Valley Community Resource Directory. Partners: New Earth Foundation, United Way of Yavapai County, Coconino County, Greater Sedona Community Foundation and Coconino County Community Services.
Assistance to Persons in Need
- 2004-07 – Numerous emergency grants to persons in need, as identified by human service organizations.
- 2004 – Donated $500 to Catholic Charities Christmas Program for indigent youth and families.
- 2002-03 – Provided holiday gift packages to indigent children in the Sedona Head Start program.
- 2001 – Provided $2,500 in school clothes for 25 indigent students in Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek. Partners: Sedona-Oak Creek School District and Yavapai County Community Foundation.
Direct Services
- 2002 – Provided free student counseling and HeartMath Institute-originated biofeedback training to help students manage stress and improve academic and athletic performance. Partner: Sedona-Oak Creek School District.
Resource Development
- 2007 – Assisted in developing and presenting Community Conversation meetings in the Quad City and Verde Valley regions to gain nonprofit agency views on priority community needs. Partners: United Way of Yavapai County, Yavapai County Community Foundation, AZ Department of Economic Security, and Prescott Evening Lions Club Foundation.
- 2006-07 – Assisted in organizing and developing the Verde Valley Substance Abuse Network. Partners: MATForce, Youth County, Verde Valley Guidance Clinic and other human service agencies.
- 2006-07 – Assisted in grant writing and performed statistics compilation and project evaluation for MATForce and the Yavapai County Substance Abuse Coalition. Partners: MATForce, Youth Count and Advocates for Positive Choices.
- 2006-07 – Assisted in organization and development of the MATForce Verde Valley Steering Committee.
- 2006 – Assisted the Seniors in Action Coalition in attaining incorporation and nonprofit status.
- 2005-06 – Assisted Youth Count in developing a Youth Development Plan for the City of Cottonwood. Partners: City of Cottonwood, Boys and Girls Club of Northern Arizona, Big Brothers Big Sisters and other organizations.
- 2005-06 – Assisted Youth Count in developing a Youth Development Plan for the Town of Clarkdale. Partners: Town of Clarkdale, Youth Count, and other agencies.
- 2005 – Assisted Youth Count in developing a Youth Development Plan for the City of Sedona. Partners: City of Sedona, Youth Count, Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Arizona, and other organizations.
- 2005 – Assisted Youth Count in developing a Youth Development Plan for Beaver Creek. Partners: Beaver Creek Community Action Team, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Montezuma-Rimrock Fire Department, Beaver Creek School and other organizations.
- 2005 – Participated in the Governor’s Arizona Statewide Youth Development Task Force in creating a statewide plan for youth development.
- 2005 – Assisted Youth Count in developing a Verde Valley Regional Plan for Youth Development. Partners: Youth Count and agencies involved on the Verde Valley Steering Committee.
- 2005 – Worked with youth and senior daycare agencies to explore feasibility of creating Intergenerational Daycare programs. Partners: Yavapai County Community Foundation, Youth Count, Generations United, NACOG Area Agency on Aging, and other organizations.
- 2005-07 – Assisted United Way of Yavapai County in developing its programs and opening an office in the Verde Valley.
- 2004-05 – Assisted in the creation the Yavapai County Generations United partnership. Partners: Youth Count and more than 40 agencies.
- 2004-05 – Assisted in the expansion of the Yavapai County Community Health Center to include the Verde Valley Wellness Clinic.
- 2004-07 – Helped create and develop the Sedona-Oak Creek Restorative Justice (SORJ) program for high-impact intervention of youth referred by police and schools for violation of misdemeanor crimes and school rules.
- 2004 – Created the Kids Piggy Bank program to assist youth in need.
- 2004 – Created the Student Scholarship management program to help student obtain higher education.
- 2004-07 – Assisted the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) Social Service Block Grant Committee and Community Action Board in planning for improvement of social services for Yavapai County.
- 2004-07 – Assisted the Yavapai County Juvenile Court Community Advisory Board to improve court services to youth and families.
- 2004-05 – Assisted the Sedona-Verde Valley Chapter of the League of Women Voters in development of its programs and outreach to Latino voters.
- 2004 – Assisted the City of Cottonwood in creating a Cottonwood Youth Commission. Partners: City of Cottonwood, Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Arizona, Crossroad Youth Services, Tobacco-Free Education and 4-H.
- 2003-04 – Assisted United Way of Yavapai County in planning and seeking funding for a Community Needs Assessment. Partners: United Way, Northern Arizona University, and multiple agencies.
- 2003 – Assisted in the creation and development of the Latin American Center of Northern Arizona in Cottonwood.
- 2003-04 – Implemented Arizona Town Hall recommendations for promoting better intercultural relationships by creating the Cultural Diversity Council as a nonprofit. Partners: multiple agencies and individuals.
- 2003-05 – Assisted in grant-writing and performed program evaluation of the Incentive Grant for Local Delinquency Prevention program in Camp Verde, Clarkdale and Cottonwood. Partners: Town of Camp Verde, Town of Clarkdale, City of Cottonwood, Big Brothers Big Sisters, 4-H, Tobacco-Free Education Program and Youth Count.
- 2003-05 – Assisted in grant-writing and performed program evaluation for development of Discovery Connection afterschool centers in Camp Verde, Clarkdale and Cottonwood. Partners: Buena Vista Children’s Services, Youth Count, Camp Verde School District, Clarkdale-Jerome School District, and Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District.
- 2003-05 – Assisted in the creation and development of the City of Sedona Youth Commission.
- 2003 – Assisted in the creation and development of the Verde Valley Task Force on Aging, which is now called the Verde Valley Seniors in Action Coalition.
- 2002 – Encouraged Youth Count to extend services to the Verde Valley and establish a Verde Valley Steering Committee to identify needs and build resources for youth.
- 2002-04 – Assisted in the creation and operation of the Verde Valley Primary Care Planning Committee that aided in the development of the Verde Valley Wellness Clinic in Cottonwood for “medically underserved” persons (37% of the population). Partners: Yavapai County Department of Community Health Services, Verde Valley Medical Center and other agencies involved in the committee.
- 2002 – Organized Nonprofit Professional Training program for nonprofit staff and directors. Partners: ASU Nonprofit Management Institute, Yavapai College and United Way of Yavapai County.
Studies and Surveys
- 2006-07 – Compiled for MATForce and the Yavapai County Substance Abuse Coalition a series of studies for Yavapai County baseline data for substance abuse reduction plans, including: Arizona Criminal Justice Commission results of the “Arizona Youth Survey,” “County and Town Populations,” “Resident Juvenile Crime,” “Juvenile and Adult Crimes and Arrests,” “Schools and Substance Abuse,” “Health Impact of Substance Abuse,” “Substance Abuse Impact on Child Protective Services,” and “Substance Abuse Treatment in Yavapai County.”
- 2006-07 – Designed and wrote report on a Sustainability Survey Pilot Study in Yavapai County for NACOG. Partners: NACOG and member agencies of the Social Service Block Grant Committee and Community Action Board for Yavapai County.
- 2006 – Performed Domestic Violence in the Tri-City Area study for Stepping Stones.
- 2005 – Compiled a Survey of Youth Commissions and Advisory Groups in Arizona study. Partners: Arizona Statewide Youth Development Task Force, City of Sedona Children and Youth Commission.
- 2004-05 – Assisted in compiling and publishing the Sedona Commission on Aging study for the City of Sedona. Partners: City of Sedona, Verde Valley Seniors in Action Coalition, Yavapai College, NACOG Area Agency on Aging, Sedona Community Center and several other organizations.
- 2004-07 – Assisted in compiling data, writing and publishing the resource book, The Spirit of Yavapai County: Communities for All Ages. Partners: Youth Count, United Way and several agencies.
- 2004 – Compiled and published a Poverty in Yavapai County study to assist communities, agencies and faith-based groups in providing services to persons and families in poverty.
- 2003 – Performed Early Childhood Success in Prescott Valley study for the Prevent Child Abuse organization in Prescott.
- 2003 – Compiled and published the Racial/Ethic Populations in the Verde Valley and Yavapai County study.
- 2003 – Performed a Verde Valley Youth Services Utilization Study showing percentages of youth and parents utilizing youth and family resources in north, west and south sectors of the region. Partners: Youth Count and Steering Committee agencies.
- 2002 – Compiled juvenile court statistics and published Juvenile Crime in the Verde Valley report. These reports are updated annually.
- 2002 - Compiled and published a Verde Valley Youth Population report, based on the 2000 Census, to aid schools, youth services and communities. Youth population figures are updated annually. Partners: Youth Count and Steering Committee agencies.
- 2002 – Compiled and published a Need for Medication Assistance in the Verde Valley study that led to the creation of the Verde Valley Medication Assistance Program to help persons unable to afford prescription medications.
- 2002 – Performed Sedona Children at Risk study that led to establishment of the City of Sedona Youth Commission in 2003 and helped the Sedona-Oak Creek School District gain funding for a second School Resource Officer. Partners: City of Sedona and Sedona-Oak Creek School District.
